Regarding the proportioning valve provided with the Spirit brake kit, do you recommend starting with the valve all the way in for full preassure or another setting?

Leave the valve open. It should be on the front brake line's. The best way to check it is if you happen to have a gravel road, just step on the brakes and if the front rotors lock up first just cut down the pressure to the front brakes till all 4 wheels stop at the same time.

Thanks BC, By open, I assume you mean screwed all the way in. all the way out is fully proportioned????

Rotating the adjuster knob clockwise until it is all the way in will provide full pressure delivery to the calipers. Rotating the knob counterclockwise will incrementally reduce line pressure up to 57% when the valve is fully out. If this range of adjustment is not sufficient to properly balance the vehicle's bias, changes to other components within the system my be necessary.

So when BC says "open", he means full pressure.

It's like a faucet. When it is open more fluid comes our which gives you more brake. when you close the faucet less fluid and less brake.
