Hey Guys, How do you tell how wide a tire you can install on a 15 in X 8 rim and still clear your bucket with no rubbing, have solid rims off 50"s thunderbird I love, just want to go wider in the rear. Any help is greatly appreciated, first rod, having a ball, but not much experience. Thanks, Chopper

Do you have fenders? If so you'll have to check both inside and outside clearance, but if not:

I just went through that with a set of 31X18.5 Hoosiers on 15 X 15 Welds. Measure the back spacing on the wheel and add the tire section width divided by 2. That will tell you how far back (toward the car) the tire will go. Then measure from the wheel mounting flange to the car to see how much space you have.

CrazyBob, Thanks for the info, No fenders, so that should make it easier for me,. Don"t want to go to wide, just enough to beef it up alittle, you know.

I have a 10 bolt Chevy rear and the Weld Draglites are 15 X 15 with 4 1/2 back spacing. The section width on the Hoosers is 18.5 and I still have about 1 1/2" clearance so I can't image you would have any clearance problems with an 8" rim on a T-Bucket.

15x8 fit well with a 275/60/15, tire bulges about an inch from the wheel lip, so mount the rim on the axle, and check your clearance. hope that helps
