After doing extensive research and side by side comparisons (Being an engineer, IíM anal about these things), while there are some good about each company, Spirit by far, seemed like the place to help me into my foray of T-buckets. Every time I called for information, they never once made me feel like they wished I would hurry up with my questions. Bob took the time to talk with me and make sure all my questions were answered. I then talked to Josh extensively about a second round of questions. Again he took the time to make sure I had everything answered. I am proud to say, I place my order this afternoon for their stage III kit and the extended bucket. I hope they donít mind when I actually start building and I pepper them with questions. I will remember they have a business to run also. My thanks go out to the staff for being patient with me and all other people that post to the board. You are all so helpful with each other.
Thanks
Bill

Welcome Bill,

I'm still a newbe on this site, but really enjoy the fact nobody cares about bandwidth here when you post a few pictures, so with that in mind, here is my mug. I'll show you mine if............well you remember what we said as little kids growing up.

I too am an engineer and Spirit customer. As you, I did a lot of research before making my buying decision and Spirit came out as the best value. I visited their shop in May, 2009 and was very impressed with the quality and attention to detail they build into their products. The staff was very friendly while showing my wife and I around and answered all of my questions. I have no doubt that I and many others made the right choice when they went with Spirit for their project parts. Welcome to the "Family".

Thanks Bob and Ellis8500 (didnt know your name) for the welcome. When I get started I will keep everyone posted as to how it is going. I sold my 1958 Biscayne for the money for my T. I will miss her (she was the car that I learned to weld, to do body work, rebuild an engine, and basically learned how to use my hands to actually build and create. But is was time to move on and my dad recommended a T. He said they were as fun as all get out. His words:) An old adventure ended and a new one is beginning........stay tuned

Just to give you a heads up we will be requiring build pics too so get the camera ready with fresh batteries. P.S. Welcome to the club and you made a wise choice. I didn't buy mine from him but if I did it wouldn't of taken me so long to build even though we did build 3 in 8 months. It was just the fact I'm not a big fiberglass fan so if I'd went with his bodies I wouldn't of been covered in the stuff.

Bill,

Be sure to take lots of pics and post them here. A build thread would be awesome. A lot of us out here in cyberland are very interested in the new extended bucket.

Thanks!
David

One week down, 2-3 weeks to go...Correct Josh? thats what you said:) Got the transmission, looking for my engine now. Got the garage and tools all ready. Got the guys lined up to help. Its like I am a kid waiting for Christmas. My birthday is March 2nd, hopefully it will be here by then. That would be a great b-day present. I must have watched every You-Tube video on T-Buckets and have visited hundreds of websites. I think I have decided on the colors. House of Kolors - BrandyWine, with a little metallic red flake mixed in. I can picture it in my head as clear as the skies of Montana where I grew up. Cant wait...

What model trans?

A brand new rebuilt TH350 with hardened gearset and a shift kit. A good friend of mine had a good friend who did transmissions for a living and then retired after 45 years. Built this up for someone and has been sitting there for a year and a half. He made me an offer I could not refuse, I would be doing him a favor by making room in his shop if I took it for $150. He even gave me a 24 mth, 24,000 mile warranty. He wanted to get me off on the right step in my build. He asked for first ride in the bucket. I already promised that to my wife but I told him he was next in line.

Good luck with your build Bill. I ordered my stretched body but stopped short of a chassis package yet until I figure out what I'm going to do. I don't quite have it all worked out in my mind yet. I like the nostalgia looking rod with white wall bias ply cheater slicks and a flat black paint job, but a shiney wide radial tire monster is pulling me the other way. Decisions:confused:

They are both nice, but that bottom flat black bucket is way cool. I hate to ask cuz I probably should know but is that a Spirit bucket and who does it belong to. It looks like the top one is a Spirit.

It's a Spirit as far as I can tell Bob. Not sure who owns it. The pics are not mine, I got them off the internet somewhere...

Thanks Photoman for the views.
Ok here is an idea, I love the nostalgia look, but have always longed for the Fad T for the last 30 plus years, so how bout this plan:
Build the nostalgia one first with the flat black paint and wide whites and cheaters, minimal chrome. Drive it for a few years then take the same car paint it, chrome a few things/ ceramic coat and powder coat a few things, and put a bright color on it and a new set of gleeming wheels and skinneys up front and fatties on the back??

I like the dark red interior on this bucket

That is a Spirit. Thanks for the rest of the pics Photoman. Here is how I would do it Steve. I would put it in DP 90 "flat black primer" drive it till my wife tells me its to dirty then rinse it off with a scuff pad and reprime it. Then when it was ready to prime again I would take it apart and paint it make it look like it could win a trophy and sell it then start over. But thats just me.

OK sounds good BC,
That will be the plan. Plus I get to paint my first car in primer, even I won't mess that one up.

This was one of my favorite buckets.

http://forums.bucketheadbash.com/gallery/image_1885.jpg

It was a build car for a season.

http://forums.bucketheadbash.com/gallery/image_1886.jpg

The legend's of pinstriping did the same circuit that year.

http://forums.bucketheadbash.com/gallery/image_1887.jpg

They striped this bucket in 20 min as we were building it.

http://forums.bucketheadbash.com/gallery/image_1888.jpg

I kept bumping them and moving the bucket to make it a little more challenging but I think they did a great job and we had fun doing it.

Here is Billy the Kid from Spirit with some random guy in the basement at the Detroit world of wheels. Some great people and great ratrods there.

Jiggs was one of my favorite guys we became great friends. He ran his Spirit bucket for a long time in primer. He knew how to have fun. Great memories

Jiggs was part of starting the first T only club. I remember he drove over 100 miles to be at the first gathering and had that bird on his grill shell all the way. We kinda had the pink flamingo as our mascot. he stayed till late even though it looked like rain and drove home in the dark and the rain over 100 mi. like it was no big deal.
Russ and Kathy Gore were there also. I remember when they got there bucket from Spirit Kathy looked at Russ and said you can get it but this will not be another project that you don't finish. That was a long time ago and they became true bucketheads. I was saddened to here Kathy just passed away. A great loss.
