View Full Version : Kingpin ?

Putting my front end together, the right side went in fine and the spindle works like it should. The left side is the problem. The spindle is free to a point then gets stiff, it still moves on back and forth but has a tight spot. I have a feeling the pin is bent maybe a .001 or so. Anyone seen this problem before. It still works just has a tight spot. Anyone have the cure out there ?

Duke...I had a somewhat similar situation, but it was related to the chrome axle which from the pictures....I believe you have also.

Some slag or what I would call chrome plating residue had a thicker (high spot) inside the axle where the kingpin fits.

It took serious brake hone work....but all is well. Just honed that one spot.

You might check.

Found a burr on the lower bushing, Looked like a SNAFU from installing the bushing after chroming, fixed that and reinstalled, snug but no binding and feels the same as the other side, no slop just a nice fit.:D

Duke sorry I did not see the post earlier but the brake hone is the best answer. Sounds like you got it going together. Keep us posted
