Hey guys, I'm trying to get some input on an event for next year. the following is what I posted on the NTBA and tbucketeer site. Let me know what you think. You may either respond here or my email: wyche_37@hotmail.com

"I had a thought this evening (yea, dangerous, right?) and put this on the NTBA website. I'd like to get the thoughts and opinions of you guys as well. Here is what I posted there:

Well, that's one name suggestion. I'm trying to get some info on who would be interested in getting a Galveston, Texas cruise together for next year. I have talked to a few guys in the chat room and now, I'm tossing it out here. I think it would be a lot of fun and a great family thing.

There has been a lot of improvement in the Galveston area over the last year or so. A cruise scheduled for around this time of year would be perfect. Not too hot and definately not too cold. It's in the mid 80's and mid 70's here now!

Imagine a nice show of T Buckets, cruising along the seawall in Galveston and then through the historical district! There are lots of new hotels and resturants. Not to mention places to see in the surrounding area. Such as NASA and the Kemah boardwalk.

If there is an interest, I can start calling around to find out what needs to be done for this to happen. Media coverage for anyhing positive happening in Galveston is great. That means positive exposure for the hot rod community in general. Perhaps the cruise could be to benefit a childrens hospital or organization?

So, let me now what you think. I would also like to hear from someone in the alliance, who knows how to deal with city fathers to get something like this going or maybe they could step in and get it started. I have never attempted anything like this, so help would be greatly appreciated.

Any help from someone who has done something like this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Heck yeah! Galveston this time of year is great. We're in Round Rock so we'd trailer there. Are you thinking of one day, weekend or what?

was in Galveston a couple of weeks ago. Took my girlfriend and my sons down to do some crabbing (she's from Thailand and of course likes crab). Think the water is still alittle too cool for crabs. Will go again in a month or so. We went out to East Beach (where the ships come into the ship channel) but noticed Apfelt Park is $8 to park and/or drive on the beach. Maybe with some calling we can get a discount for a group of buckets. Another good cruise would be from Galveston to Freeport over the San Luis Pass Bridge. Will check out more this month.

Why can't anyone do fun stuff close to me! Seattle to Galveston Tx... a mere 2,476 miles... each way!

Let's see... if gas is almost $4.00 per gallon here in TX it's got to be heigher in WA. But for the sake of argument and to make it easier to calculate, let's call it $4.00 per gallon. You probably don't get 10 mpg but it would be a highway trip, so let's say 10 mpg. In which case just to get to Galveston, the gas would cost you just under $1,000 or $2,000 round trip.

Yeah, that's worth it to see Texas!

That will be bout what it will cost me from Katy to Galveston and back. I'm LUCKY if I get 5 mpg. But it sure helps to stretch each time I stop for gas with a 10 gallon tank.

I guess the closest one to me will be the 101 Fun Run in San Diego Aug 1st and 2nd... a mere 1250 miles each way... hum...
