I would try to put it where the length of hose...

I would try to put it where the length of hose you use to the wheel, and be where the hard line is hidden from view from the rear of the car, as in not being on top of the axle housing.

I use a trunk realease cable and handle from a Nissan Altima for rear latches. They bolt to the floor or side panel are long enough to reach with just about any way you route them.
