Default Front end

Josh, could post a picture of a completed front end. I'm a little confused on how to put this thing together.

Photoman.....thanks for posting that pic up....have been busy at the shop all day and plus went crusing after work at 5:30 and ate catfish at Freds Fish house. Doug ate all the catfish

Photoman, what I really need to see is that piece under the front spring and how that hooks up to what ever it's suppose to. I'm I making any sense.

Here's a few more. Looks like over the years, there have been different ways Spirit has done it. Early ones look like a tab welded onto the axle. Is it still done that way?

Thank you Photoman. What is the reason for this? Sure is a ugly piece. Do all front ends have that panhard rod?

It keeps the axle centered as the suspension travels. From a technical/engineering perspective, it's an excellent idea. Does the same thing the panhard rod does on the back. Traditionally, T's haven't had them, but they do work and serve a good purpose.

I think the current versions of the Spirit front end attach the axle end of the panhard rod to the passenger side batwing.

Part of the reason for that ugly panhard bar is to help control the bump steer.

On the Spirit kit, the frame holes for the thru-the-frame brake fittings are not drilled, nor are the brake attaching bracket holes. You purchase the the thru-the-frame fittings and your brake line kit. You would drill the holes, run the lines, drill holes for your attaching brackets. I am assembling mine totally, drilling holes, etc, then sending out for powdercoat or paint after holes are drilled.

Just a comment, when running cross steer and you turn the wheel the movement of the tierod side to side tends to want to push the front axle sideways instead of turning the spindle.
At some point the force on the spring shackles will be greater than the force required to turn the wheel.
Some car have a slight "dead spot" when steering off straight ahead due to this ,the panhard bar stops this.
