Default First Start Up !!! - Spirit 23 T

We built her over the winter and just had our first start up ... A ton of fun. Small gas leak to address, but other than that - she seemed to start right up. Will fix the leak, set the timing and get the body completed !!! Can't wait !

Let's try this again - trying to get the video to show up as either a link or clip...

Hmmmm - okay how do you add a video clip ?

Setting up a you tube account - we'll see if that helps?

Maybe I should stick to building buckets and not trying to figure out Computer Stuff??? :-)

Ok - does this work ?

Most certainly - we'll shoot some clips this weekend and wil post. Except for the Brake rod between the pedal and the power booster my son and I made all parts with basic shop tools. I ran out of ideas for the pedal rod - my neighbor is a machinist and he offered to make up a neat bar for us. Video's and picks will be posted shortly... (dang work gets in the way of fun )

Had the day off - shot a video of how we setup the 4 speed - sorry it is a little jittery, but...

Truly excellant, and I hope you know I was kidding about sticks being crazy in a bucket. I ran a Muncie M21 till last winter. Last summer went with the obnoxious torque engine, and didn't want to turn a perfectly good M21 into a paperweight so last winter put in the Tremec TKO 600. Unlike the Muncie, the robust Tremec needs very little mechanical advantage for shifting gears, so pulled the Hurst full lenght shift lever and stuck a 5" Mustang shift lever.

With the 31" tires and a 0.64 OD, the old T is rather long legged on the highway, to the point that when not driving this speed, last trip to SoCal managed a 28.2, 30.2, 24.6, and a 15.9 mpg for the 4 fill ups for the round trip. You may think I'm geared too tall, but remember the engine was built for torque down low, 516 lb/ft @ 2800.

no worries on the 4 speed comment Deck Officer... Low HP motor, not too worried about it holding up - we plan on babying this toy (building a track car with my oldest son, so that is the car that will take the puninsment)

The T's engine is a 400 SBC with 29k on her - all we did was pull her out, clean her up, give her an oil change and a tune up, then into her new home she went.

This was the truck that housed the motor before we pulled her out...

We ended up changing the color from Chevy Orange / Red to Cherry Red to match the rest of the car... the flat black slowly went away as the kids picked up chrome stuff for me as part of christmas, birthday, father's day ... We went from no "bling" to some "Bling" !

I love the roller bearing pedal pivot point and they way you worked both pedals together. At next years Bash there could be as many as 3 sticks in the group counting your new build. As Arlo Guthrie said while singing "Alice's Resturant", at the draft induction office........"if one person came in, sat down, and sung a bar of Alice's Resturant, they'll think he is nuts and won't take him. If two people came in, sat down, and sung a bar of Alice's Resturant in unison, they'll think they are both ******'*, and won't take either, but if 3, I mean 3 people come in, sit down, and sing a bar of Alice's Resturant, they'll think it is a movement."

And with 3 of us showing up next year at the Bash with 3 pedals, they will all think it is a movement, and it is, it is the "my left foot needs something to do movement".
