![]() Been doing a bit of body work a piece at a time instead of attacking the whole body at once. I want to get the door jams finished out and colored before I concentrate on the larger areas. Cowl and windshield area are next on list, then doors.

![]() Been thinking about a fake looking black vinyl top between the outside ribs. I am looking at a textured bed liner type stuff. Going to buy several brands for testing. Just can't make up my mind if I want to do it or not. Thoughts on this?
Drivers and passenger doors are ready for primer. Still got to get the rear door sanded and filled. Will probably prime those 3 at the same time. Then concentrate on the rest of the body. Lee

![]() Its a little late to be asking now, but what do you guys use to bust down the gelcoat before priming the body? I have always just killed the gloss and went with primer after that. 220 grit seemed to work pretty well.

![]() I ended up going with using 150 with a air palm sander, and it seemed to bust it up okay. I used the same on my fiberglass trailer bodies and they seemed to hold paint just fine also. I guess if the paint blows off going down the road, I will do it different next time. I say that in a joking mannner,,,,I hope.

![]() Well, the 3 doors are ready for final finish sanding. Body still needs a little tlc, and one more primer, then finish sanding, then paint, finally. Just have to be ready for that right warm day.

![]() Paint is on the body now. Doors will be painted Thursday. Running a bit ahead of schedule for a change. I will post pictures as soon as I get everything back together.

![]() I have the tires, and exhaust back on now, so I can move the car out so I can get the doors painted. The color is Ford Tractor Red, Matt finish. I used Flatz paint and really like it. Goes on smooth and covers really well. I used less than half a gallon on what you see painted here.

![]() I used International tractor red on the bucket that got wrecked. It was made out of soybeans, and was bought at Tractor Supply Farm Stores. Base coat/clear coat and hardener all cost about $80.00.

![]() I am thing about using TSC matte black for my 46 coupe. I have heard good things about that paint and the price is right.

![]() Once it has dried, it is hard to get off. Almost like Emron paint. The John Deere flat black covers the best without streaking.

![]() The John Deere flat black, comes from John Deere, instead of TSC?

![]() Wow, very nice work Lee. I really like the matt finish. Home many coats of base and clear did you go with? Or was this a single stage paint?
Thanks, Steve |

![]() It is a one step process. The matte is a urethane finish, and no clear was used. I put on 3 coats. Goes on really nice, and goes a long way. Out of a gallon I still have a quart left for touch up.
Thanks for the complement, Lee

![]() Thanks SS. We had a good time, although it does get a little old after a while. You can only look at so many cars for so long. It was good seeing some old friends there. The car did get a bunch of lookers, and a few pats on the back.

![]() SS, went to the Stray Kat 500 today. There were several cars there with the Flatz paint on them. It is real easy to use, and forgiving. Look up TCP Global. I used the Flatz 2. Going to use it on my 46 chopped coupe also, but in the black.
Thanks for the kind words, Lee
