![]() I rebuilt a Chevy 350 last summer just to see if I could do it. I never rebuilt an engine before. It turned out very nice so I needed to figure out what to do with it. After 27 years with an automotive parts supplier supplying brake and fuel lines to the big three (and others) as a Quality Engineer, I thought I should build a car. Never had been bitten by the car bug until that darn engine. I ordered a 29 coupe last Thursday and am really looking forward to getting my hands on it! Thanks Josh, for the patience over the last several months.

![]() We got the car home Tuesday morning around 3 am. It looks great! Starting on cleaning up the welds. Got a couple of brackets to add for the front jounce hoses and I should be ready for some primer.

![]() Brakes are done, engine and transmission are in as well as a new drive shaft. The wiring is about half complete. I need to pick up a few connectors ad the gages to finish the task. Found some bucket seats in a scrap yard from an old Chevy. The headers are onorder. Time to start thinking of glass. Still have several things to complete before being ready to drive.

![]() Lookin good. Just picked up my 29 sedan delivery at the Buckethead Bash last month. Real happy with the work the guys a Spirit did on the body and frame.
Is the radiator the one that comes from Spirit? Waiting on mine, but no big hurry. Keep on truckin on the coupe, and post more photos when you can. Like to see the headers when you get them on. Lee

![]() Thanks Steve you know your way around here better than I do. I'm not sure what my next car will be but I think either an A rod sedan or an A on pinched 32 rails.

![]() Extremely neat car, and kudos to your wife for getting in on all the fun, got to love family involvement when it comes to building/owning a hotrod. The 28/29 body is my favorite Model A.
Hey Bob (BC), can you comment on the legroom of the model A with a recessed firewall in relation to the Spirit extended T? Are they about the same or a bit more room in the A? Steve PS keep the pics coming on your build, We really enjoy watching builds coming together. |

![]() SS, I just measured my 29 sedan with the recess. It measured 15 1/2" from the firewall to the inner door lip. 14 1/2" from the firewall to the face of dash. Hope that helps.

![]() OK, that just seals the deal for me, this will be my next build. this car just screams the word 'HOTROD". How cool is this car? I'm 54 going on 18 again. There is nothing like the first drive is there. I'll remember the first drive of my bucket until the day I check out. Nice job so far.

![]() Looks great Art! That is the way a hot rod should look, no frills or fancy stuff, just business. Dig the wheels.

![]() Glass gets installed this week. My wife is a prety good artist and will be etching the side windows with Ed Roths Rat Fink character. That should add a little flair. Time to start thinking about paint. Does anyone have any sure fire methods for setting the prop valve on the brakes? Mine is still at the factory setting.

![]() The only way I have ever set one is to do the drive and stop tests, and adjust from there. I have one on my roadster, and who knows where it is set, and so far no ill effects have happened. I know it is not set at factory settings, because I turned it in and out quite a bit trying to decide which one of the two I was going to use. Decided on the Wilwood, cause the front brake are the same brand.
I think I would just do some go and stop tests at different speeds untill you happy with it. Lee

![]() The body work is complete and the first coat of filler primer is on. Now we block sand with 220 grit. |

![]() The second coat of filler primer is on and we block sand with 320 grit. We recessed the plate and added a body line extention to the A post ahead of the doors. Won't be long before the color goes on now! |

![]() Looks like your coming right along. Wish I was that far. Sure like what you did with your recessed tag.

![]() I found the seats at a yard in Lansing. U Pull & Save. They were in a Chevy Corsica, were in very good shape and were $15 a piece. Still playing with how to mount them as low to the floor as possible and still have the slide ability. I'm 6'1" & 250 lb. My wife is 5'4". Trying to make it so we can both drive it. Got both seats torn down to the adjusters now.

![]() I took off the stock mounts on my seats that were 2 1/2" tall in front and 1 1/2" in back. I replaced front with 1' square tubeing, and 1 1/2" flat strap in rear. I welded them to the adjusters, and will bolt new mounts to floor. They have 12" of movement. Put them in the far back position for me, so my wife has the full 12" to move forward for her if needed. They are out of Dodge Dakota. You gave a good price for yours. I paid 75 for both, but that included the center console, which I have no room for.

![]() Thanks Lee. I think I;ll try that same mounting method and see how it works. I had the seats in earlier but I wasn't very happy with the way they fit. I hope yours is a very merry Christmas!
